On Thursday, September 27th, Rich Ferris, Bob Baker and a representative from Gateway Engineering attended the South Fayette Planning Committee meeting.  During this meeting the committee reviewed the St George Land Development Plan.  The committee voted unanimously to recommended the approval of our Land Development Plan. This recommendation will be sent on to the South Fayette Township Commissioners at their next meeting in mid October for their official stamp of approval. This is a major milestone for our building project and is the most complex permit that had to be submitted.

Positive progress! - 08/12/12
Last updated: 2017-05-31 00:41:04

Great news on the building front! The results of the core borings and the traffic study were both very positive.  The core boring tests proved that our grounds have 130 feet of shelf, meaning that there is plenty of earth to support our building.  Results of the traffic study indicated that they found no impact to the current traffic in the community based on our arrival to our new address.  That will be the recommendation the engineers pass on to both PennDOT and South Fayette.

Also, the building committee has tasked Gateway Engineering to complete the outstanding items that are the result of the first submission of our building plans to South Fayette.  Gateway believes that they can complete these items in time to be submitted to South Fayette again for review at the next meeting.  If the changes to the Land Development Plan are approved, Bob Baker and his team are ready to start our foundation!

Preparing for Fill - 03/15/12
Last updated: 2017-05-31 00:41:04

The construction crew is busy with preparations of the land and adding fill dirt at the site of the new St. George Church. As the weather continues to bless us with sunshine and warm temperatures, the work continues as well.

In passing the site you may notice that the "St. George Cemetery" arching gate at the entrance of the cemetery has been removed, and some of the trees have been trimmed or removed.  These things were necessary in order to allow the large construction trucks access to the site of the new building.

Topsoil Moving at Building Site - 03/01/12
Last updated: 2017-05-31 00:41:04

Crews have begun to move the topsoil on the site of the new church in preparation for the addition of over a hundred truckloads of fill.  The additional fill is needed to raise the level of the site to the correct height for the beginning of construction.

In the center of the construction site, you can still see the wooden cross that was elevated by Metropolitan PHILIP and Bishop THOMAS on the approximate location of the new altar.

Equipment for Christmas! - 12/24/11
Last updated: 2017-05-31 00:41:04

Baker Construction wrapped up a bulldozer and placed it on the site of the new Church as a Christmas gift for the parishioners of St. George!  Permits have been approved and soon the construction crew will be actively moving the soil on the site.

If you have connections to an individual or company that has soil/dirt/fill available - please contact Rich Ferris. One of the major efforts right now is to find enough suitable fill to move in to the site.
